We all entered 2021 on a bit of a high note. The discovery of a vaccine for COVID lead us all to hope that it would soon be a part of history. Unfortunately, COVID has found a way to continue, but we have shown that it is not tougher than us. Businesses in Ozaukee have continued to find new ways expand and thrive. Sales tax revenues for the County rose significantly showing increasing sales for local businesses.
Manufacturers saw orders increase as home sales continue to grow throughout the county. However, this growth has not been without its challenges. Businesses continue to struggle to find the workforce and capital they need to expand. However, OED is here to help.
In 2021, OED continued working with our businesses on these issues. OED helped connect current businesses with partners like Forward Careers and Ozaukee Youth Apprenticeship to assist them in looking for or training new employees. OED helped businesses apply for State COVID programs like We’re All In and the Wisconsin which brought grant dollars into the county. OED also served as a conduit to local loan programs assisting area businesses find financing to expand or locate within the county. It is our goal in 2022 to continue to be a partner for Ozaukee’s growth.
